MASW exploration is a new method for geo-technical engineering exploration in recent years. Its principle makes the correct explanation and project evaluation to physics mechanical properties of media body, according to dispersion of Rayleigh wave. Compared with traditional methods, it has many advantages such as convenience, high efficiency, low cost and so on. Civil engineers have been paying more and more attention to it. MASW has been widely used in the domains engineering geological exploration and engineering quality testing.The history of Rayleigh waves is introduced ,and the advantages of MASW were pointed out.This article elaborated elastic-wave equations, inferred heterogeneous layered half-space and space-Rayleigh wave equation. The study on the theory in soil shows the shear wave velocity of soil can be attained from the Rayleigh wave velocity. It is well known that there is relationship between shear wave velocity and characteristics of soil. So MASW technology is used to reflect the characteristics of soil body ,which can test the effect of debris slope after grouting governance.It is a topic in the fields of the geo-technical engineering to inverse the properties of the stratified media in half space by using the Rayleigh waves. MASW exploration method is used in a practical project- debris slope on ZhaiTou Tunnel, Guizhou province. The propagation modes and dispersion curves of the Rayleigh waves are presented based on the analysis of the experimental data in stratified half-space media. The parameters of the stratified media are inversed by using the genetic algorithm based on the fundamental and higher modes of the Rayleigh waves observed. The comparison of dynamic parameters and the data before governance tested the grouting effect of debris slope after governance.The change of government dynamic parameters showed :although some regional surface grouting is uneven, but the overall played a role in grouting solidification, also basic types of hardware or hard into the state, stability of soil slope increase, dynamic Characteristic changes significantly, grouting governance made good results.In addition, this paper also done a radar test and drilling exploration, finally proved the MASW obtained the surface distribution shape and the drilling result are close, evaluation of the grouting effect is in line with radar, which fully showed the reliability of technology MASW and accuracy.Transient MASW method applying to the dynamic properties of soil is a new technical research, but it still has many problems and demands further studies, due to the deficiency of its calculation theory and the sophistication of engineering circumstances.
