Multibeam Echosounder system is a new style of SONAR,and is a high efficiency techonology to abtaian bathymetric data.High resolution bathymetric data are widely used for interpretation of the morphology of the sea floor,for geological,and geophysical research,and for the creation of bathymetric maps.This essay describe the Application of GIS in Multibeam bathymetric data processing and managing.ArcGIS GeoDatabase is used to develop a seafloor terrain database.For the computation of a digital elevation model different steps were undertaken.The most important step was the bathymetric data editing and cleaning,to remove the outliers,gross and systematic errors.This data editing and cleaning was performed using statistical methods.TIN is used to conduct tide correction.To improve total accuracy of soundings,adjustment based on checkline was performed.To compute a digital elevation model(DEM).different methods for the computation of a digital elevation model were analysed,the inverse distance weighting interpolator was used to compute DEM with the weight determined by distance and ping number and the search radius depending on water depth,To Managing high resolution and large area DEM,Level of Detail Technology is used.The spatial database use client/server mode,and geodatabase technology is used to develop a vector,property,DEM and Image intergrated database stored in an RDMS through ArcSDE,also,some examples are given.A software is developed to processing multibeam bathymetrie data and transport them into database.
