The Study On Active Faults, Earthquakes And Ground Fissures In The Shanxi Rift System

The Shanxi rift system is a continental rift that composed by a series of fault basins with different directions and the secondary structions in the fault basins. There are many ative faults in the rift valley, these faults are controlling various basins development and the evolution. The material demonstrated that the Shanxi rift system is in the frequent earthquake and serious ground fissures disaster. Moreover, these geological disaster are closely related to the neotectonic movement. The research of the active faults in the Shanxi rift system has not only of great theoretical significance, but also provide some indispensable basis to study the earthquake and ground fissures disaster in this area.Based on the Analysis and reorganization of the relevant information, this thesis launched the research of'The Study on Active Faults, Earthquakes and Ground Fissures in The Shanxi Rift System'.Firstly, this thesis studied the characteristic of main active faults and the avolution in Datong and Xinding basins, and also researched the common characteristic of active faults in Shanxi rift system Based on this, this thesis has carried on the analysis to the crustal dynamics background in this area and the Shanxi rift system's tectonic evolution.Secondly, base on the data of the ative faults and the area tectonic stress fields and the historic earthquakes, this thesis has analyzed the problem on recurrence of the historic strong earthquakes in the Shanxi rift system, got the seismic risk areas, doped out seismicity in this area..Lastly, the distribution and disaster situation and formation mechanism of the ground fissures were discussed in this paper, and then pointed out that ground fissures were controlled by the master ative faults, and if ground water gathering is excessive, it can induced and promote the disaster of ground fissures. At the same time, this thesis discussed the characteristic of the ground fissures in Datong city, and also doped out development tendency of the ground fissures in Datong city.
