The main task that have been done in this article is to design a embedded system, which works as assistant control board for main control board embedded in the Benthal MT Apparatus. This machine is devised by Physical Geography And Information College in China University Of Geoscience (Beijing). The assistant control board function to get precise time clock signal, GPS position data, time and date data, course data and speed data. When the apparatus work at seabed, assistant control board measure some datas including azimuth angle, gradient and temperature.In this article, ATmega128L plays a role of microcontroler;iTrax02 is used as GPS module to supply precise time clock signal and to get RMC message according to NMEA protocol; ZCC211N-TTL is choosed as azimuth angle transducer; MMA6260 which can measure acceleration is used to get gradient of apparatus.When it works on the sea, cooperates with GPS module and azimuth angle transducer as a complement to GPS navigation; LM75 gets temperature datas as temperature transducer.The electronic voltages switch between TTL and RS232 mode while both of GPS module and ATmega128L communicate with PC. This function is realized with MAX3232; Microcontroler is charged of opening or closing the datas' channels through SN54125; 9430IC is designed to control the power supply; TL062D amplifies the output voltages from MMA6260 to supply suitable inputs to ADC of ATmega128L.Altium Protel is used as EDA instrument to design the hardware of assistant control board. Software for the assistant control board is designed in C language on the WIN_GCC compiler and debugged with AVR STUDIO. The flash memorizer of ATmega128L is programmed with JTAG instruments.
