The development of GPS has resulted in a profound technological transformation in the field of surveying and mapping. GPS takes more and more important effect in instauration of wide scope and high precision control net, city control net and project control net, has superseded the traditional triangulation and traversing. Especially in riverway mapping, pipe-line surveying , tunnel run-through surveying , mountain and diggings area surveying., it has been applied widely. Due to topographical constraints, most of the nets are set in unconventional form, and many go through mountains and forest, there are a few of known points, so that it is a serious problem to net setting, error controlling and working, so it is a focus that how to heighten the precision of production and the economic benefit.This paper shows the application of GPS control surveying in complicated area, according to the project of the Qianan diggings in Hebei province. It is illustrated just through the following aspects:First: The process of GPS. We record the project of GPS from beginning , connecting to practice.Second: The way of processing data (calculate the data through the HDS software ) . We perfect the calculating quality by the experience and skill which are acquired from calculating.Third: The analyzing precision to the control net. We analyze the reliability of the net from kinds of aspects.Forth: The conversion between different coordinate in GPS project.Fifth: Better use of geodetic elevation of the GPS.
