Residual oil distribution analysis is a research focus during the oilfield development process. Now using the logging information combined with geology data to analyze the residual oil distribution is the most applied method, but because information between the wellbore and cross well is not balance, the information is rather abundant by taking well as carrier, the reservoir information of cross well is very insufficient, which makes that logging evaluation result is restricted in rather small area around well[1,2], but the borehole-to-surface potential imaging technique has large lateral investigation range and investigation depth, and high resolution, so can be used to evaluate residual oil distribution. This paper presents the principle and on-site work method of borehole-to-surface potential imaging technique, and emphatically analyzes the application effect of 21 wells in several test blocks, Daqing oilfield. Inversion imaging method is used to process the observed data to acquire specific resistance and residual oil saturation distribution of target layer. This obtained result was analyzed and compared with numerical stimulation, performance data, coring well data and microelement tracer logging to show that interlayer and plane distribution of residual oil coincide well with the results, and advancing direction of injected water coincide well with the performance data. The result indicates that borehole-to-surface potential imaging technique has a good application prospect in residual oil distribution analysis. The adaptability researching of different kinds of reservoir for the application of borehole-to-surface potential imaging technique is a very important purpose according to the special needs and different geological conditions of the Daqing oilfield. And other researching such as how to improve and complete on-site work methods, data interpretation methods, the method of comprehensive analysis, evaluation and comparison with the interrelated methods and verification data is also carried out for improve the adaptability for the application of borehole-to-surface potential imaging technique. The paper is given as follows according to the on-site test results comprehensive analysis of borehole-to-surface potential imaging technique.
