Our cities face lots of problems today, such as crowded road, high price house, low grass coverage rate and so on. These problems are partially caused by the lack of land. For the sustainable development of our cities we have to solve these problems. Utilizing underground space, such as letting some roads and buildings built underground, is an efficient and effective means to lessen the pressure caused by the lack of land. It's also a way to improve people's life condition. There are a few principles to follow when it comes to utilizing the underground space resources. The first is equilibrium principle, for example, the underground space near the tall buildings should be utilized more. The second is to have a wholeness perspective and utilizing the underground space systematically. The third is to investigate the geological state of the underground space so as to build underground space on stable place, especially to avoid building buildings on faults. It's therefore necessary to develop a database to make known the state of land use. This paper based on our lab's database, which includes enough information about the geology and surface land use of the study area.Spatial information is an inherent part of underground space resources, so it is appropriate to utilizing GIS to help solve this kind of problems. Based on programming skills and GIS knowledge, this paper completed a GIS system. The system includes the following functions: open files, add layers, pan, zoom in, zoom out; Convert Excel data to shapefile; data processing functions, such as buffering, query, export map properties to Excel; add map elements functions, such as add title, add north arrow, add scale bar, add legend, add table about map information and so on; export and print map functions, which includes set the size of paper and so on.
