The active fault and ground fissure problem in highway engineering has great negative influence on highway infrastructure construction, project investment and processing safety in western region. Thus the scientific evaluation on the active fault precise location and strength (dislocation width, rate of speed and etc.) and on risk degree of the potential earthquake become the base of disaster resistance and reduction.Considering the speciality and divergence of detection in different areas, generally we adopt different measures and technologies to determinate the space throughing of active fault and ground fissure. Seismologic method especially reflected wave seismic prospecting is one of the effective ways.Firstly, this paper presented the concepts of active fault and ground fissure, recovered the domestic and foreign study and literatures on this field; then it introduced the danger in highway engineering which caused by active fault and ground fissure and the application of different geophysical methods in detecting them.Secondly, combined with large quantity of geological data, we detected the active fault and ground fissure trial area of highway engineering by high definitional resolution seismic technique. This paper analyzed the bellowing detection data separately and specifically: shallow seismic data, highly-buried structure data, Quaternary period stratigraphic configuration data, trial trench tricomponent data, S wave data and etc..Thirdly, this paper designed a model for active fault and ground fissure analyzing and did seismic wave field forward analogue. With the help of collection data and theories, it presented several acquisitions, existing problems and suggestions due to data collection, processing and interpretation in highway engineering. This paper approached the design principle and excitation& reception request for optimum observation system in the detection of active fault and ground fissure. It also considered about problems such as S-wave prospecting application and wide angle reflection dynamic correction in shallow seismic. Then it introduced the possible prospect of reflected wave geological attribute (position) calibration and space decryption problem and parallel poly-pencil of lines partial three dimensional seismic technology. At last, this paper primarily analyzed the cause of ground fissure in Sanyuan.
