Energy shortage has become a major challenge in modern society. In order toseek alternative sources of energy, people have made unremitting efforts. Advantagesof bio-butanol include its similar energy density with gasoline, low corrosiveness, lower vapor pressure, miscibility with gasoline. So butanol can be added into gasolinewithout the need to transform engine. The production of butanol from biomass is apromising wayto resolve energyshortage.Butanol is produced by biological fermentation with Clostridium aceto-butylicum.The parameters such as the concentration of different substrates, the temperatures infermentation are investigated. In this paper, acetone and butanol from Clostridiumaceto-butylicum fermentation is measured through GC (FID) and the gas rate is takenby drainage measurement. The results showed that the suitable temperature ofClostridium aceto-butylicum growth is 37℃. The gas rate is 60mL/h and total volumeis 2510 mL. At the end of fermentation, the concentration of acetone, butanol is 4.1g/L, 8.2 g/L. Furthermore, the suitable temperature of Clostridium aceto-butylicumgrowth in fresh sweet potato medium is 35℃. The gas rate is 72 mL/h and totalvolume is 2560 mL. At the end of fermentation, the concentration of acetone, butanolis 4.2 g/L, 9.2 g/L.fresh sweet potato is most suitable for fermentation. Due toabundant nutrition of fresh sweet potato, the time fermentation is short and theconcentration of products are high.In order to use cellulose hydrolysis products as fermentation substrate, we try toinvestigate the concentration of inhibitor adaptability in cellulose hydrolysis productsthat Clostridium aceto-butylicum can live. So add some inhibitor as furfural, acid, alcohol and acid in substrate and then measure the products of fermentation. Theresults showed that when the furfural concentration of 5.5 g / L, acid concentration of3 g / L, alcohol concentration of 8 g / L, acetone alcohol Clostridium will stopgrowing.
