Imre Lakatos is the very important philosopher of science. His sophisticated falsificationism and methodology of scientific research programs attract a lot of attention, and are widely used in different fields of disciplines.Stemming from the intense collision between Popper' s philosophy and Kuhn' s philosophy,Lakatos' philosophy of science makes an active revision and innovation for the patterns of the development of the science of the two seniors. For a long term, there is no clear status for Lakatos. It is often regarded as two kinds of positions:first,he belongs to historicism of science.Second,he is a falsificationist. But they are too vague to exactly express the delicate relationship among Kuhn' s,Popper' s and Lakatos' thoughts. We must carry out the comparisons among the philosophy of science of Lakatos,Kuhn, and Popper, and set a new position for Lakatos.Centering on his pattern of the development of the science, the paper conducts a so detailed analysis about the view of experiment-theory,scientific evaluation and criterion of demarcation, and models of scientific development as to elaborate in depth the realism roots hidden behind Lakatos' pattern of the development of the science. The paper tries its best to find out the proper position for Lakatos in the history of philosophy of science, that is,a Kuhnian philosopher of science from Kuhnism. There are two purposes of the comparisons and positioning for Lakatos.First,it is advantageous for our understanding of the mainstream of western philosophy of science, and makes clear the academic relationships of Popper,Kuhn, and Lakatos. Second,it helps us further understand and apply Lakatos' philosophy. In addition, from the angle of scientific realism, we need make it prominent to state and analyze the pattern of the development of the science as much as possible.
