As the development of oil and gas industry, the proportion of natural gas has increased year by year for its clean and effective characteristics. Jilin Oilfield Company has put forward the development strategy"oil and gas develop simultaneously", which lift the curtain on natural gas exploration and development in Changling fault depression. In the southern part of Songliao basin, study on natural gas reservoir forming mechanism becomes an important subject, which urgently needs to solve in deep natural gas exploration with Well Cangshen1 as the representative of exploration wells in deep Yingcheng formation. The completion of this subject could enrich oil and gas reservoir forming of fault basin theory and guide oil and gas exploration in similar basins.With the importance of hydrocarbon migration mechanism, transporting pathway and reservoir, this paper gave a definite and thorough understanding to geological characteristics of Khaldin structure and oil and gas reservoir forming and distribution according to geological characteristics of Khaldin structure and main problems in recent exploration, which will provide reliable geological guarantee for further oil and gas exploration in Khaldin structure.This paper got the following results: (1) The thick gas yielding stratum of Shahezi formation of Changling fault depression provide material base with good source-reservoir-cap rock relation and oil and gas reservoir forming conditions, so changling fault depression has the geological conditions to form a large gas field. After analysis, favorable facies belts of volcanic rock in fault depression gentle slope form thick and high yielding large-middle hydrocarbon reservoir. Favorable facies belts of large volcanic rock are the enrichment area of large–middle natural gas reservoirs. (2) We put forward differences of gas reservoirs aggregation process in central uplift belts and made clear distribution rule of gas reservoirs. We predicted favorable zones according to these data.
