West Sichuan-type micro-crystal muscovite is a new kind of muscovite minerals, the preparation of insulating pouring sealant with micro-crystal muscovite which has good insulation properties has good application prospects. In order to provide a scientific basis of developing new insulating pouring sealants and the exploitation and application of micro-crystal muscovite, using YD2681A type insulation resistance meter,Z323K type refrigerated centrifuge and,WE-100 type hydraulic universal tester and so on, to study insulating properties of new insulating pouring sealant with micro-crystal muscovite,settling properties of micro-crystal muscovite in epoxy resin E-51,influence of curing agent and the amount of micro-crystal muscovite for the intensity of new insulating pouring sealant. the results achieved are as follows:(1) Insulating properties test results show that the volume resistance rate of 400 mesh, 600 mesh, 800 mesh, 1000 mesh of micro-crystal muscovite are 1.95×1010Ω·cm,6.60×1010Ω·cm,8.31×1010Ω·cm,3.33×1011Ω·cm, they indicated that micro-crystal muscovite have good insulating properties.(2) According to the Stocks settling velocity formula, the centrifugal settling velocity formula and the features of high speed rotating centrifugal test, we deduced the natural settling time formula. And on the basis of features of insulating pouring sealant and high speed centrifugal settling test with different granularity micro-crystal muscovite in epoxy resin, we summarized a method of centrifugal stratified distance to get fast quantitative characterization for the settling properties of mineral fillers in high viscosity liquid such as polymer. Our results show that settling velocity and stratification proportion of the micro-crystal muscovite in epoxy resin E-51 had relationship of direct proportion with its particles size respectively. It will take 7068.7 days to settle completely for 1000 mesh micro-crystal muscovite (stratification proportion 100%), and its natural settling velocity is 0.71(1×10-7mm/s). We should use 1000 mesh micro-crystal muscovite or less than it if we hope that there isn't distinctly stratified phenomenon in three months.(3) According to centrifugal stratified distance method, studied settling properties of micro-crystal muscovite which was modified by various coupling agent in epoxy resin, the results showed: micro-crystal muscovite which was modified have better settling properties, micro-crystal muscovite which was modified with C type coupling agent have the best settling properties, In practice, micro-crystal muscovite in the epoxy resin to maintain 3 months of no obvious stratification, it should be used micro-crystal muscovite which was modified with C-type coupling agent.(4)Curing agent and the amount of micro-crystal muscovite influenced directly the intensity of new insulating pouring sealant, The test results show that when the amount of curing agent should be 5%, C-type coupling agent modified microcrystalline muscovite 800 mesh of content at 40%, the compressive strength (128.61MPa) the strongest.
