Environmental science boards environmental problem by many manners, in this paper we monitored the toxic substance nitrite concentration with the weather change in Donghu lake water.Nitrite is damageable at very low concentration for human health, animals and environment. Many methods exist for its determination within several matrixes. We use here the Gas Phase Molecular Absorption Spectrophotometry (GPMAS) for the reasons which are: its good detection limit (around 0.06 uM), the low cost and the simplicity of use. The study site is Donghu Lake for the importance of this source of fresh water in Wuhan city such as fishing, agriculture and recreation. The samplings were made every day from March 14th to April 17th 2008 for studying the weather influence (specially, temperature, cloudy days, sunny days and rainy days) on the nitrite concentratio in the lake.In our study we have shown that the rainy days and sunny days have a remarkable influence on the lake water nitrite concentration. During the sampling period, the temperature variation was small, the obvious influence of this parameter could not be observed under this condition .The explanation for the cause of the high concentration relays on three arguments: Atmospheric pollution, urban area pollution and the natural nitrogen cycle production but influenced by weather.
