Contradiction between estimated accuracy of solid mineral resources and economic benefits of resources become serious in the new era of resource economy. In order to adapt to the era, it is very important to choose or develop a suitable estimation method of mineral resources for every mine company, including Zhaxikang mine. And it is the goal which researchers always pursue. Therefore, after analysing several fashionable estimation method, this paper make a estimation model of mineral resources, based on matlab and geostatistics, taking zhaxikang mine for instance.According to the characteristics of Zhaxikang mine, the estimation model adopt the method of horizontal projection transform of orebody to simplify calculation, then use difference interpolation to estimate Pb-Zn reserves. take observation point as sample, computer draws the variogram curve, which reflects the feature of regionalized variable. By this feature, Kriging spherical model is used to fit variogram curve and estimate resource.Crosscheck prove model is credible. Coefficient of error correction is used to appraise estimated accuracy. Pb: true value=( 31%~363%)×estimated value, confidence level is 68%; Zn: true value=( 35%~446%)×estimated value, confidence level is 71%.Estimation model use Kriging variance to ascertain geological assurance. On the basis of that Kriging variance varies inversely with estimated accuracy, zhaxikang orebody is divided into four blocks.Result indicate: geological assurance by estimation model is higher than that by traditional block method which is used before. When surveying accuracy is similar, geological assurance is improved according to estimated accuracy and confidence level, So mine company can make proper decision, and elude economic risk. On the other hand, under the same geological assurance, using estimation model to estimate resources could reduce project expenditure and accommodates to new age of resource economy.The computer program of estimation model is brief, legible and easy to use. Some program which is not used by zhaxikang is offered to resolve estimation question in other mine, according to their characteristics.
