Magnetotelluric(MT) Method has been widely used in the domains of geological exploration and mine exploration. The purpose of Magnetotelluric (MT) is to measure the conductivity structural of underground medium on different depth.The whole process includes data collection,processing and inversioning. The characteristics of apparent resistivity and phase curves are mainly basis of analyzing the structure of the earth and the distribution of conduction; therefore, Analyzing, calculating and processing of impedance are one of the most basis and importance aspect. Noise will make impedanoe severely biases and reliability of explanation. Then it is the key problem to suppress or remove noise effectually and achieve stationary impedance estimation.Having reviewed the domestic and overseas developments of magnetotelluric method, this paper has studied the MT signal feature in detail, and analyzed their influence to impedance estimation by type of noise,and also, introduced rarious methods to restrain noise,raise the data quality.The electromagnetic transfer function of the earth is traditionally estimated by least square method. The departures from ideal behavior (gauss distribution) are of ten large enough to seriously contam inate ordinary least square procedure. Robustest imation of electromagnetic transfer function has been used in magnetotelluric study. The paper discussed principles, calculating method, program flow chart and its effectiveness of Robust estimation of MT impedance based on energy assembled. Results of synthetic data show that the new method can work well in noise environment.MT data processing is on the base of the original MT signal called time series. Have read time-series file correctly in order to further study. Result of real data for EH4 indicates the new method possesses better robustness, make the curves more smooth and reasonable than the original method of instrument.
