NIMA and NASA carried out a plan named Shuttle Radar Topography Mission (SRTM) in Feb, 2000. The goal of this plan is analyzing and treating all collected data, drawing high-accuracy global three-dimensional map. Because of the influence of the geometrical characteristic of radar's side view and space shutter rail's design, the quality of SRTM data collected in waters, mountainous and canyon area is poor, there are either large or small data vacancy in some areas. Moreover, there are many plots with worse confidence coefficients, they mainly distribute in waters in wide area or the edge of high mountains and deep canyon. This phenomenon is caused by the quality problem of radar echo. So before using SRTM data, the mending to data empty area is necessary. And in the use of SRTM data, we must also consider the reliability of the accuracy of SRTM data. We can compare SRTM data and DEM data to determine its accuracy. SRTM data's application aspect are wide, especially is very widespread in the geoscience simulation's application.Analyze in this text is based on the treatment and application of SRTM source data, the main contents contains:1. Filling the material vacancy caused by various reasons in SRTM data, research the integrity of SRTM data in Hunan province.2. Setting Huizhou as an example, compare SRTM DEM data with existing 5m-accuracy DEM data, analyze the difference of their elevation, then draw the conclusion.3. Establish the gradient and aspect map in Hunan through using informed SRTM data and evaluate it simply.
