Qinghai-Tibet Plateau is the largest lakes district in China. The plateau lakes development and evolution contains the plateau uplift, also contains important evolutional informations of the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau climate and environment. As an important component part and effective means for the study of global environmental change and mechanism of Plateau uplift, this study has a special significance. In this paper, the ZhariNamCo was choosed as a main object for this study. Based on the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau ZhariNamco studies in Qinghai-Tibet Plateau land resources survey project study and in combination with the basic geological, environmental Quaternary geology research results, we applied the technic of GIS, RS, GPS to investigate the region of ZhariNamCo. Through the MSS and ETM images classification, interpretation and the SRTM DEM-3 digital terrain elevation data analysis, I calculated deferent changes of the water area in this region since 120Ka.B.P. Incidentally, analysed of the evolution of the lake reflected in the process and significance of geological environment. By the study, the main conclusions drawn in the paper are as follows:(1) At 120,000 since before today, area around the ancient ZhariNamCo is now three times. With the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau geology and climate changed, the ancient ZhariNamCo increasingly shrink. The area average annual decline rate of the lake is about 0.0172Km~2/a and the water volume average decline rate of the lake is about 1.8×10~9m~3/a.(2) Established a serial of remote sensing interpretation signs for the evolution of the lakes relevant features. These signs direct interpretation reflects the evolution of information lakes directly and provides a scientific basis for the revolution of lakes.(3) In the late Pleistocene, a peak time of lakes, there may grow a number of ancient lakes, which had different period, different distribution and different characteristics of the evolution at the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau especially in the Qiangtang region.(4) The research shows that the 3S technology with integrating traditional geological knowledge has obvious advantages in the field of lake evolution study. This research is low cost and the quantitative results is convincing.
