Shanpaolv are the famous stones of Qingtian Stones, with sleek texture and peculiar grain. The paper, based on fieldwork of geology, has done some researches on the causes of color and structure characteristics mainly through using modern testing methods such as polarization microscope and analysis of EMPA, XRD, IR, DTA, XEDS and TEM, at the same time, compared to the similar species of Guangdong Beryl to get a better understanding of Shanpaolv and regulate the market.Cryptocrystalline texture, micro-granular texture and lepidoblastic texture are widely visible. The samples are mainly massive, porphyritic and banded structures. EPMA and XRD show that the major mineral composition of Shanpaolv is sericite, the content is about 95%. The secondary minerals are quartz, andalusite, kyanite and sillimanite. That through the calculation of cell parameters, the better the quality of Shanpaolv, a0 value large, K and Al are higher, while the Si content the lower, speculate K, Al and Si content of Shanpaolv have greater impact the quality. Meanwhile, the EPMA also show that sericites have a high content of Cr ions in Shanpaolv , then deduce the green part of the color caused by Cr ions. TEM and XEDS found that it also contains FeO, FeS, rutile and other minerals, because the size smaller, so less than a conventional assay. Suggesting the presence of Fe and Ti ions are part of the color yellow of Shanpaolv causes. In addition, for the first time observed in Shanpaolv to cerium lanthanum phosphate ore, green future applications for Shanpaolv and phosphate ore deposits found in Ce-La offers a new way. IR and XRD show that it contains a certain amount of water, DTA confirmed this conclusion. As the sericite of Shanpaolv in good crystallinity, a lower degree of hydration, the water content is very low. The comparison shows that good quality of Shanpaolv also has a low content of water. It suggest that the water in the sericite also has some effect on the quality of Shanpaolv, that is, higher quality of Shanpaolv, the lower content of water.By comparing Shanpaolv and its similar species Guangdong Beryl found that, despite similar between the two main components, but in appearance, structure, hardness, density and a series of very different aspects. In comparison, Shanpaolv has better transparency, refractive index higher, while the relatively low hardness and density. The structure is more compact, sericite closer particle arrangement, particle size smaller, but not as Guangdong Beryl sexual orientation. Determination of these feature provided a theoretical basis for future identification. At the same time, the paper summarized the main elements of the evaluation of Shanpaolv as color, texture, clarity and the process of fragmentation in these areas.In the paper, further analysis of status of Shanpaolv's market and the existence of some of the issues to point out some suggestions as to predict its development and applications.
