With the consistent development of science technology especially computer and network technology, there comes huge change in the field of automatic control. More and more intelligent devices have been widely used in the field of industry control. The connection between field intelligent devices and remote monitoring computers realize data transmission,information share and remote control. As an automatic control system of ocean automatic observation, ocean observation station needs to integrate plenty of hardware made by various factories. Because of the lack of unified connection standard, it is difficult to implement the PNP integration among all hardware and is impossible to provide standard access mechanism to upper clients. It will cause the data can not be shared and interacted with each other. All hardware systems are just like some"isolated information islands". OPC is a software framework based on Microsoft COM. It unifies the interface criterion for software and hardware. The application of OPC is to establish a bridge for the application procedure and field observation. A whole set of standard OLE/COM interface has been established for the access of data information of filed devices. It has solved the data sharing and mutual interacting problem by offering unified and standard access and connection interface.This thesis reviews the OPC data access criterion and the character of COM interface technology. It analyses the actuality of current ocean automatic observation system. Meanwhile, it presents the designs the client/server model framework of a whole new ocean station automatic observation system(The new system can conveniently integrate former ocean station observation system and provides a PNP hardware environment and make it more flexible on software design. ) based on OPC technology. The thesis analyzes the basic functions of server and clients. It offers universal implementation method and process. In addition, it exhibits software design for server and clients by using Visual C and test for system clients to remotely access to server.
