The Anshan area is located at central and southern part of Liaoning province. Influenced by the natural environment, geologic structure, properties of layers and human activities, it becomes one of serious geological hazard areas in Liaoning province. The geological hazard had brought heavy loss to the local people life and property, and affected on social economy sustainable development. In order to reduce losses of property and life caused by geological hazard, and provide evidences for government defending damage, Anshan area, as a typical area of geological hazard, was chosen to be researched in regionalization and evaluation in this paper.On the basis of a wealth of data gathered in field investigation of geological hazards, an access database was established. By using the function of projection change on the platform of the GIS software, the files of the database were transformed into graphic files with an attribute and the distribution map of geological hazards was also constructed. Through the superposed calculation on the vectored layers and the files of hazard points after the research area was grid into 1856 parts, the regionalization map and isoline map of hazard-prone degrees were prepared. Finally, the evaluation was carried on,and the regional measures of prevention was proposed.The main research results are as follows:1,The main types of geological hazards in Anshan included collapses, landslides, mud-debris flow, ground subsidence and unstable slope. The collapse, landslide occurred mainly in Anshan city, the collapse, landslide, ground subsidence could be seen in Haicheng city, landslide, unstable slope mainly in Xiuyan county,. The growth and distribution of geological hazard had the relations with space and time obviously.2,By combination Qualitative analysis with quantitative evaluation, unit grid information content synthesis judgment method was used to regionalize geological hazard-prone degrees and evaluate the research area. The results showed that the most liable areas mainly scattered in the eastern part of Anshan city, eastern and southern part of Heicheng city and most part of Xiuyan country.These provided a reliable and scientific basis for prevention and reduction of hazard damage in Anshan and served the rural planning.3,On the basis of geological hazards-prone of the regionalization and the importance of a point, considering in the growing features and damage degree of geological hazards in Anshan, the research area was divided into the most liable prevention area,the secondary liable prevention area and the general liable prevention area. The corresponding control measures were prepared individually.
