Spectral Decompositon is derived from time-frequency analysis with"locating"fuction and the thought of the reservoir quantitative interpretation using turning effect, it provided a new approach of signal analysis and interpretation in frequency domain. So the paper presents application research of spectral decomposition in characterization of seismic reservoir. There are five chapters in the paper. First, introduction, introduces the research thinking in the paper; Second, current status and progress of spectral decomposition studies, introduces its development of relative theory and application both at home and abroad; Third, comparisons of general method of spectral decomposition, introduces the basic theory and method ,such as time-short Fourier Transform, Short-time Fourier Transform, Gabor Transform, Continuous Wavelet Transform,S-transform, Wigner-Ville Distribution;Forth, the research of spectral decomposition based on local wave decomposition, introduces relative theory of local wave, and come up with the suppression of interface effect by extending and embroidering, and then improves the method of spectral decomposition by local wave decomposition; Fifth, the application of spectral decomposition; Finally, Conclusions, recommendations and thanks. The main achievement of this paper are following :(1) Improving the method of suppression of interface effect by extending and embroidering based on the research of relative theory and the method of suppression. The result of model simulation shows its effectiveness.(2) Research on spectral decomposition based on local wave decomposition and by comparing the method after improvement and original one, the result indicates that there have a rise on resolving power.(3) The spectal decomposition based on local wave decomposition is applied to reservoir characterization, such as: exploratory research on thin-bed qualitative interpretation, hydrocarbon detecting. The results indicate, the technology can be used to improve the prediction accuracy of reservoir.
