Preliminary Study On Insect Species Diversity Of Giant Panda Sanctuaries In Yaan

Abstract:In natural heritage of Sichuan giant panda sanctuaries, the region of Yaan has played an important role. But only three studies on insect diversity in Yaan giant panda sanctuaries were reported at present, and all of them just focused on a small part of insect community in small part of the region. So the whole conditions of insect species diversity are still mystery, which is not good for the management. Therefore, at the request of Yaan World Heritage Office, an extensive and comprehensive background investigation was carried out in September 2009.According to the distribution of giant pandas, a total of 11 lines were selected (Wangjiagou, Dengchigou, Dashuigou, Mahuanggou, Xinzhaizigou, Pujigou, Meilichuan, Ganyanggou, Guanfanggou, Mofanggou, Lianxiangpo), took line transect survey-based, supplemented by sample surveys, combined with light trap and can lure, the results are as followed:1. A total of 3664 insect specimens belonging to 20 orders,140 families were collected,331 species were identified, and they are about 760 species in all. The Coleoptera (203 species), Lepidoptera (136 species), Hymenoptera (101 species), Diptera (89 species), Hemiptera (88 species), and Homoptera (53 species) are dominat. The largest 10 families are Staphyliniae (38 species, accounting for 5.02%), Carabidae (32 species, accounting for 4.62%), Ichneumonidae (28 species, accounting for 4.23%), Pentatomidae (23 species, accounting for 3.83%), Chrysomeliae (21 species, accounting for 3.70%), Jassiae (20 species, accounting for 3.37%), Coccinellidae (18 species, of the total 2.77%), Tipulidae (16 species, accounting for 2.11%).2. Diversity index was taken to analysis the insect community structure of 11 line transect survey, the results show that:①3 lines with the highest richness are——Wangjiagou, Dashuigou, Dengchigou;②3 lines with the highest diversity are——Dashuigou, Wangjiagou, Pujiagou;③3 lines with the highest Uniformity are——Mofanggou, Ganyanggou, Xinzhaizigou;④3 lines with the highest dominance are——Lianxiangpo, Dashuigou, Pujigou;⑤Meilichuan and Ganyanggou are most similar, their similarity is moderate.3.1087 insect specimens belonging to 15 orders,71 families were collected by light trap,21 families of them, are not collected in day. The Lepidoptera(17 families,370 species) and Coleoptera (16 families,215 species) are dominat.4.127 insect specimens belonging to 8 orders,17 families were collected by can lure, The Formicidae, Gryllidae, and Carabidae are dominat, their number of individuals take 75.6% of the total.5. According to collecting environment, the insect obtained in day can be divided into six groups:vegetation, deadwood, soil, ground, faeces and water. Vegetation group has the largest insect community, whick belongs to 86 families, that is more than the sum of the other five groups.
