With people's increasing awareness of environmental protection, the indoor environmental quality has become increasingly demanding. Indoor air pollution and breeding ground for bacteria become to endanger people's health due to the decorative materials, so the traditional interior wall coating can not meet the requirements. Environment-friendly and healthy interior wall coating become a research hotspot. Nano-TiO2, with high catalytic activity, can decompose the organic air pollutants into dioxide and water and control the breeding of bacteria. In this thesis, a kind of environment-friendly and anti-bacterial interior wall coating with the function of air purification was prepared through modifying interior latex paint by nano-TiO2.In this thesis, nanoparticles of pure TiO2 and the TiO2 with doping different ions (Gd3+, Ag+) were synthesized by the sol-gel method and sintering at 500℃in air. TG-DSC, IR, XRD, SEM and photo-catalytic properties and antibacterial performance test were used to explore the structure, microscopic appearance and photo-catalytic properties and antibacterial performance of nano-TiO2. Doping ions which effect on the crystal structure of TiO2 was also studied. The experimental results showed that nanoparticles dispersed well, with an average particle size of from 20 nm to 35 nm. The photo-catalytic activities of prepared pure TiO2 and Gd/TiO2 nanoparticles were studied by taking rhodamine B as degradation agents, respectively. Nanoparticles TiO2 doped with 1.0% Gd3+ displayed excellent activities in photo-catalytic degrading rhodamine B. The antimicrobial activities of prepared pure TiO2 and Ag/TiO2 nanoparticles were studied by the antimicrobial experiments of escherichia coli. Nanoparticles TiO2 doped with 1.0% Ag+ displayed excellent activities in bacteriostatic effect.Highly active Gd/TiO2 and Ag/TiO2 nanoparticles was used to prepare modified interior wall coating in this thesis. Basic ratios of emulsion components of nano-modified latex paint were obtained by lots of experiments, the affects of the way of adding nanoparticles and its volume on latex paint were also studied. The results showed that adding nano-slurry and that nanoparticles is 3% in latex paint volume when mixing paint is the best way to prepare nano-modified latex paint. The test result showed that the properties of latex paint prepared in that way could meet related national standards.
