The paper studied on the feasibility and the function of alcohol wastewater treatment with the eddy internal circulation anaerobic reactor (EIC).The eddy internal circulation anaerobic reactor added the eddy distributor to the internal circulation anaerobic reactor which could improve the mixing pattern of solid particles in the reactor. Because of that the reactor possessed new style and high efficiency.The study on the self-manufacturable EIC dispose of the alcohol wastewater lasted for six months. The experiment researched on the process of startup, hydraulic characteristics and the characteristics of granular sludge. The study showed that the technology was in possession of the prominent virtues, such as short startup period, high treatment efficiency, running steadily and so on. So it can provide a new thought for alcohol wastewater treatment. The main contents and results of the experiment were as follow:(1)During the process of start-up, the anaerobic digested sludge was used as seed, the COD concentration and volumetric loading were increased by way of low concentration and low flow. The sludge domestication started at the volumetric loading rate 2kgCOD/m3·d, the periode could last for 40 days. Then the incompact seed sludge flocs were changed into granular sludge with the good capability of the sedimentation. The periodic of startup were 40 days. The system can show it was better effect when the volumetric loading rate reached 12kgCOD/m3·d, the COD removal rate leveled off 83%, and the aerogenic rate was 0.3251/(l·d).The appearance of the continuous internal circulation indicated the accomplishment of the start-up.(2)Study on wastewater treatment of hydraulic characteristics. Researched the impactive influence of the hydraulic loading, the affect of the effluent quality with the change of the HRT,and the variety of the acidity. The hydraulic characteristics were analyzed simply as well. The result could reveal that the volumetric loading rate reached to 20kgCOD/m3·d, the optimal HRT was 6.6h, the COD removal rate leveled off 82%, when the influent concentration maintained stably.(3)During the reactor running steadily, the diameter of the granular sludge was increased and the capability of the sedimentation was good. Its color was ashy-black mostly.Its structure was close-grained. The granular sludge owned high methanogenic activity. The maximal sedimentation rate was 140m/h. VSS/TSS reached to 0.88 from 0.60.The maximal aerogenic activity was 1.036gCODCH4/g(VSS·d). Through microscope, the granular sludge was composed of ball bacterium, bacillus and filamentous bacteria mainly. The surface of the sludge was covered by filamentous bacteria, and its dominant bacteria were methanathrix.
