The engineering design, improvements of catalyst performance and operation optimization of the reactor must be based on a reliable dynamic model. NC309-based methanol synthesis catalyst is a new type of domestic catalyst which was recently developed, but its kinetics have not been reported. This paper focuses on the kinetics of methanol synthesis on NC309 catalyst, hoping to obtain kinetic model for reactor design and provide the basis for simulation. This article describes the synthesis process, reactor, catalyst, reaction kinetics of methanol and other background knowledge. The intrinsic kinetics and global kinetics have been researched on different catalysts, different pressures within isothermal integral reactor and internal recycle gradientless reactor respectively, and the kinetic models of methanol synthesis have been obtained using the method which combined with improved genetic algorithm and the Marquardt algorithm. Through the residual analysis and statistical tests, comparison of the outlet composition of experimental and calculated values, and the relevant comparison of kinetic datas, the kinetic models have been proved reliably and acceptably.
