This thesis systematically investigated the high performance Ti/RuO2-Sb2O5-SnO2 electrodes for seawater electrolysis. Major research works included three parts:optimization of electrodes preparation parameters, physicochemical and electrochemical examinations of electrodes and operational parameters effects on the seawater electrolysis process.Experimental results showed that the pyrolysis method could successfully prepared the Ti/RuO2-Sb2Os-SnO2 electrodes. The optimal electrodes preparation parameters were:a calcination temperature of 500℃, a Ru component proportion of 30% and a Sb component proportion of 10%. The physicochemical and electrochemical examinations showed that the RuO2-Sb2O5-SnO2 coating prepared with optimal conditions had microporous structure and existed in the form of a solid solution. The electrodes demonstrated good performance for chlorine evolution and the service life was predicted to be over 5.0 years at a current density of 500 A/m2. The operational parameters effects on the seawater electrolysis process were:high chloride ions concentration in seawater was favorable while stirring rate effected little. A suitable range for temperature is 15℃-25℃and a suitable current density is 500 A/m2. The current efficiency ranged from 80.4% to 90.4%, depending on the operational conditions.
