In recent years, the investigation of ultrathin films has received much attention due to the demand of functional components.Several methods such as LB and chemisorption deposition have been developed for the preparation of ultrathin films. However, these methods still show drawbacks, which restrict their application in the practice. The technique of electrostatic deposition developed by Decher and co-workers in 1991,which has a lot of advantages such as experimental convenience, the thickness controllability and composite adjustability, has been explored to be an effective method for preparing multilayer films. In this paper, the novel organic-inorganic films of [PBV/PMo12]n,[PAH/PMo12]n and [PBV/PB]n have been fabricated on quartz, silicon wafers and glassy carbon electrode by electrostatic deposition technique. The growth process, elemental composition and the thickness of films are investigated by the UV-visible spectroscopy,Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy, X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy and so on.The electrocatalytic and electrochromic activities of films are also investigated by electrochemistry. The contents and results are as follows:(1)The synthesis of poly(butanyl viologen) (PBV):An equimolar mixture of 4,4'-bipyridine and 1,4-dibromobutane in DMF solution is stirred for 24 h at 80℃. The resulting solution is poured into excess ether solution to precipitate PBV,and then PBV is dried at vaccum.(2) The novel organic-inorganic multilayer films containing of PBV polycation and 12-molybdophosphoric acid (PMo12)polyanion have been fabricated on several basements by electrostatic deposition technique. The films are charactered by the UV-visible spectroscopy, Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy,X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy, cyclic voltammetry and so on.It has been found that the film thickness is at nanoscale and the films can be constructed uniformly and homogeneously on basements. In addition, the films have showed good electrocatalytic activity on BrO3-,NO2- and H2O2,which can be expected to have the potential application in the development of BrO3-,NO2- and H2O2 sensors.(3)The novel organic-inorganic films containing of polyallylamine hydrochloride (PAH) polycation and PMo12 polyanion have been fabricated on glassy carbon electrode by electrostatic deposition technique. The films are charactered by cyclic voltammetry. It has been found that the films can be constructed uniformly and homogeneously on basements. Moreover, the films have showed good electrocatalytic activity on BrO3-,and NO2-, providing valuable information for the electrochemical detection of BrO3- and NO2- in water.(4) The novel organic-inorganic films containing of PBV polycation and Prussian blue (PB)anion have been fabricated on quartz and ITO conductive glass by electrostatic deposition technique. The films are charactered by the UV-visible spectroscopy, electrochemistry and so on.It has been found that the films can be constructed uniformly and homogeneously on quartz and ITO conductive glass, and preliminary investigate the electrochromic property of films.
