In view of the low removal efficiency of organosulfurs using present desulfurization solvent, the UDS solvent was developed in this laboratory. As a result, the performance for removing organosulfur form sour petroleum gas is improved significantly by using UDS solvent. In this paper, the performances for purifying coking dry gas as well as high sour natural gas with UDS solvent were investigated in an atmospheric absorption unit and the optimized absorption conditions were determined. Meanwhile, the removal performances of organosulfurs were compared with MDEA. In the basis of experiment results obtained in laboratory, the side-stream experiment and industrial application test was carried out in Puguang Natural Gas Plant. Furthermore, the purification process with UDS solvent was simulated using Hysys.The experiment results for purifying coking dry gas in the atmospheric absorption unit using UDS solvent indicated that the contents of H2S and total organosulfurs in purified gas were 1 mg·m-3 and 10.5 mg·m-3 respectively under optimized conditions of Vg/Vt of 165, temperature of 38℃, and UDS concentration of 50wt%. As compared with MDEA, UDS solvent showed 58-64% higher removal efficiencies of organosulfurs.In addition, the results of side-stream and industrial application tests indicated that the removal efficiencies of organosulfurs displaied an increasing with the contents of UDS formulated component in UDS solvents. When the hydrolysis reactor was shut down, the contents of H2S and COS were 1-3 and< 135 mg/m3respectively, the total content of sulfides was no more than 150 mg·m-3 in purified gas, which is in accordance with the national standard of 2rd natural gas. Compared to MDEA, UDS solvent have the same removal performance for H2S and better removal performance for removing organosulfurs from high sour natural gas.
