1,3-propanediol is an important chemical which is mainly used as the raw material of polyester production. The producing of 1,3-PD from fermentation route is an environment friendly technology. However, due to the low concentration and highly hydrophilic property of 1,3-PD in the fermentation broth whose components are very complicated, the subsequent separation and purification meet many difficulties. On the basis of flocculation, the electro dialysis-condensing route, reactive extraction route and liquid extracting possibility were all discussed in the subject.First, various flocculants were chosen to discuss the effect of bacteria and soluble protein removing percentage with the fermentation broth, and the flocculants with excellent property were obtained through experiment, then the best flocculation condition were optimized.Second, the equipment of ED were operated to test the performance of the salt removing effect in the ferment with the adjustion of different factors, and the cleaning and recycling of ion exchange membrane were evaluated. And the separation route was judged by the property of 1,3-PD with this technology.Third, after optimizing the reactive extraction and the hydrolysis technology, the kinetic of intermediate 2MD were discussed. Then the technology route was tested after the pure 1,3-PD was separated.Fourth, the solvent extracting potential of 1,3-PD from the ferment liquid were evaluated with the reagents of butanol, hexanol and butyl acetate.Fifth, the pilot plant investigation of separating 1,3-PD from ferment broth was studied, the pure product and byproduct were acquired through flocculation, membrane filtration, vaporization and continuous distillation and so on, And valuable parameters were provided for the future industrialization.
