The hydrogenation of fatty alcohol under mid-pressure catalyzed by Cu-Zn has been shown distinct advantage on several field, such declining the producing cost and good to the safty of producing process under mid-pressure, reducing the environment pollution by using Cu-Zn, and high conversation and selectivity. In this paper, Dodecanol hydrogenation process catalyzed by Cu-Zn which was proved to be effect and commercially produced was studied under mid-pressure. The following fields were mainly studied in this thesis:Firstly, the effect whether catalyst reduction or not, temperature, pressure was investigated. Experimental results showed that catalyst reduction outside the reactor of dodecyl methyl ester hydrogenation was better and the optimum operation conditions were: pressure 10 MPa, temperature 220-240℃.Secondly, by means of correlating experimental data, the kinetics equations of hydrogenation of dodecyl methyl ester were determined when the amount of catalyst was 4.67 %, pressure was 10 MPa, and calculated the kinetics parameter by MATLAB. MATLAB was also used to simulate the reaction result of fatty alcohol, the results showed that the relative error between experimental data and simulation data was not beyond 7%.Thirdly, according to calculating the highest yield and relating time under each experimental temperature by using kinetics equations, the highest theoretical yield appeared in 220-230℃.Fourth, on the basis of literature, kinetic model was improved, and compared with the literature, the theoretical value of this paper was more reasonable.
