With the development and the expanding application of gear transmission technology, gear transmission device gradually transform to miniaturization and high-power, and the using environment and conditions of the gear box are more demanding. So extreme pressure and antioxidative properties for industrial gear oil are put forward to higher request. At present, the gap between the domestic lubricant additives industry and the advanced international industry still exists, and some high technological additives mainly rely on imports in China, so the localization of these additives has become an urgent problem to be solved. So it is meaningful to study the structure and composition of oil and additives for providing the appropriate localization oil product.This study is aimed at solving the inter-constraint problem between extreme pressure property and antioxidative property of a kind of industrial gear oil, which has high extreme pressure and antioxidative performance. In this paper, rubber membrane dialysis, extraction method, column chromatography combined with element analysis, infrared spectrometry and mass spectrum were applied to analyse the structure and composition of a gear oil sample, which can provide guidance for the optimization of the additive formula.The result shows that the additives contain sulfur, nitrogen and lots of carbonyl compounds, and unsaturated fatty acid ester maybe also exists in the additives. The extreme pressure and antiwear additive in the oil is a kind of phosphate ester compound. The antioxidant in the lubricant is a kind of phenolic ester compound with polysubstituted benzene rings. The pour point depressant is methacrylate.
