Cement clinker burning process is the key process in cement production. Cement clinker burning system is the typical time-varying system with time-delay, non-linear characteristic and strong coupling. Due to its difficulties and complexities, the control design of the burning process has attracted much attention.It's difficult to control complex industrial processes with traditional PID algorithm. Predictive control is a popular method, which is suitable for the process control. It has three features:predictive model, rolling optimization, feedback correction. The prediction has no need of precise models, which is hard to create in industrial processes.This subject is relying on the national high-tech development program: Energy-saving Control in Typical Energy-consuming Enterprises. After researching the technology of burning process, the process model is obtained with history data by least square method, and the predictive controller is realized with c++ language. At last, the automation of cement clinker burning process is realized, with the OPC application in DCS.The operation results show that, predictive control can solve cement burning process well.
