| The preparation of foamed Fe with high melting point has been studied in this paper by the powder metallurgical method. Foamed Fe with porosity at the range of 40?7% and pore-diameter at the range of 0.1?mm has been successfiully prepared. Effects of the amount and the size of pore-producing agent, temperature-holding time on the porosity and the pore-diameter of foamed Fe have been investigated as well. The pore forming machenism of foamed Fe by this method has been analyzed. The controlling theory of preparation of foamed Fe by powder metallurgical method has been developed. In the experiment, the porosity of foamed Fe can be controlled at the range of 40?7% by way of adjusting the amount of pore-producing agent and temperature-holding time; the pore-diameter of foamed Fe can be controlled at the range of 0.1-3mm by way of adjusting the size of pore-producing agent. In addition, the deformation property of foamed Fe has been tested. The results showed that, when the porosity is at the range of 40?0%, the compression strength of foamed Fe is more then 90 MPa. Compared with foamed Al whose compression strength is only from several MPa to thirty MPa, foamed Fe has obviously higher compression strength. The study has developed a new approach on the preparation of the high melting point foamed Fe and the control of its forming process, which has special significance on theory and practice instruction. |
