Bilirubin is an important bile pigment. Together with its complexes, it is closely related to the formation of gallstone. Some researches have been done on the fluorescence and ultraviolet-visible spectrum of BR-M2~ system in the aqueous alkaline solution. Some important results are as follows: 1. On the basis of the study that zinc ion exerts a distinct enhancement to the fluorescence of bilirubin while copper ion exerts fluorescence quenching to Bilirubin, it is found that in BR-Zn2~-Cu2~-OH ?system the fluorescence quenching by copper ion can be reduced under the condition of high concentration of zinc ion. Other factors, such as EDTA, are also studied in this essay. 2. The influences of Zn2~, Cu2~ to the ultraviolet-visible spectrum of bilirubin under different conditions are studied, with the result demonstrating that zinc ion with high concentration is prior to copper ion to interact with bilirubin in 2+ BR-Zn -Cu2~-OW system. 3. The fluorescence quenching of bilirubin by copper ion can be reduced under the condition of high concentration of zinc ion, which is utilized to develop the fluorimetry of bilirubin in the presence of zinc ion. The regression equation is F=l .56+3.65c, where F is the fluorescence intensity and c is the concentration of BR in unit of ~tmol.U? the regression coefficient being R=0.998. The linear range of bilirubin is 0.l5--50.O0~tmol昄? the detection limit being 0.077~mol昄? The average recovery ratio of detoxicating tablet of bezoar is 94.60% (RSD = 1.48%) and the average recovery ratio of zhongsheng wan is 96.65% (RSD = 1.37%). 4. Some relevant characters are studied in the BR-M2~-OH system, focusing on the interactions between Zn2~ and 0H. Crystal ~-Zn(OH)2 is also prepared and characterized.
