Polyurethane is one of the most widely used paints for its convenience and excellent performance. Compared with aromatic isocyanate, aliphatics isocyanate does not turn yellow in the sunshine. Those polyurethanes prepared with HDI are climate-wearing and ornamental and have been widely used in the paint industry.Excellent curing speed, adhesion force, flexility, abrasivity, hardiness and high elasticity are all the outstanding performances of the UV-Curable polyurethane modified by acrylate. Rheological behavior is very important in the application of paint. It have something to do with the molecular weight distribution of polymer and the molecular weight distribution can be studied by the usage of GPC. In this paper, a series of UV-Curable polyurethane acrylate polymers based on HDL HEA and castor oil were synthesized. The viscosity and the molecular weight distribution of differeiit resins are tested. The effect of catalyst.. feeding order material molar ratio and reaction time was studied respectively. The relationship of rheological behavior and molecular weight distribution was analysised. The result shows that the use level of castor oil and reaction time does not affect the rheological behavior of resins very much, and a good fluidity resin can be prepared by using proper feeding order that HEA is reacted first with HDI and not adding catalyst. Thus,a UV-curable resin which has good fluidity and curable performance was synthesized by I-IDL HEA and castor oil.
