5-Benzyl-2,4-thiazolidinedione 2, a intermediate for the preparation of a new antidiabetic agent; 4,5-dimethoxy-2-nitrobenzoic acid 9, useful in the preparation of antihyper- tensives, such as terazosin hydrochloride; and a new chiral PTC, (IR, 5S)-N-benzyl-1aza-3 -oxo-4,4-diethyl-bicyclo [3.3 .O]octane bromide 7 were synthesized.
