Although wine possesses broadly pharmacological functions on human body, over consumption may cause headache~. nausea~ vomit., even psychiatric disorders movement disharmony. coma etc. Which endanger person抯 health heavily. Long term and over drinking of wine may make many organs damaged , especially for gastrointestinal tract and liver, gastritis .. gastric ulcer and alcoholic cirrhosis are often caused . This studies are focused on the anti-alcoholism of Gypenoside (GP) combined with Maifanshi extracts. GP are the active extracts from Gynostenima Pentaphyllum Makino that is famous for the ginseng of south. With animal experiments , the dedrunkenness anti-alcoholism effect of GP combined with Maifanshi extracts on imce~. the mechanism of anti-alcoholism and the prevention of mice from alcoholic liver damage are studied. Gypenoside (GP) are obtained from Gynostemma Pentaphyllum Makino in water, ethanol and Na2CO3 solution respectively. The highest extracting rate is gotten under the condition of PH7-7.9 Na2CO3 solution at 1000C, which is an economic, safe method. When Mai1~nshi is infused in PH3.O-4.O citric acid solution, the extracting rate of healthy mineral elements is very high; otherwise very little harmful elements are extracted. The experiments of mice turning back reflection and the determination of alcohol concentration in mice blood show that OP functions so well on dedrunkenness and anti-alcoholism that can sharply decrease the alcohol level in mice blood. The Maifanshi extract can increase GPs effect on anti-alcoholism. II After the anti-alcoholism preparations are administered to mice intragastrically, the activities of alcohol dehydrogenase (ADH) and aldehyde dehydrogenase (ALDH) in mice liver are measured. The result indicates that the mixture of GP and Maifanshi active constituents speeds up the mechanism of alcohol by protecting and enhancing the activities of ADH and ALDH effectively. The animal experiments also demonstrate that alcohol over-drinking leads to decrease the activities of Superoxide Dismutase (SOD) and Glutatbione Peroxidase (GSH-PX), while the mixture of GP and Maifanshi active constituents can protect their activities against decreasing so that the enzymes can scavenge such toxic oxides as ~ OH ~ H202 effectively and prevent the mice liver from alcoholic damage.
