Recovery process of caprolactam from waste water in the caprolactam production was studied in the paper, including waste water-benzene liquid liquid equilibria, mass transfer characteristic of pilot pulsed sieve-plate column, scale-up effect and runs of the industrial pulsed sieve-plate column.Liquid liquid equilibrium data of waste water-benzene were measured in the experimental range O.200%33 15 u2404 (af) -0.553600911U02404= 1.8125 (af)05536UdThe scale-up rule of pulsed sieve-plate column is as following:HTU'(D'T-DT)OXP0475Irru01According to the above, industrial pulsed sieve-plate column is obtained in the design specification of waste water flow rate 600L/h and the concentration of caprolactam from 6.4%(wt) in the feed to 1 %(wt) in the ra.ff7mate. The column diameter, height of sieve-plate, total column height are O.6m, 6m, 14.2m respectively. The industrial column runs evenly. The production operation results are near to the design specification. Mass transfer characteristic of the industrial column could be correlated as following.Hoxp=5.17O5uC03315ud024af5536...
