2,2-Dibromo -3-Nitrilopionamide (another name : 2,2-Dibrromo-2-cyanoacetamide; abbreviation :DBNPA) is a new effective biocide-algaecide and water treataant agant .DBNPA has many advantage, such as extensive antimicrobial activity; easy degrade ;no remains and remnant toxicity ;no pollution in environment; etc. meanwhile , DBNPA isn't only an effective biocide-algaecide; but also an effective slimicide and delayed corrode agant .It possess broad applied prospects and developed value. The study was conducted to explore the optimal synthetic method and reaction condition; determining its physical properties and chemical properties and biocide?algaecide activity,testing its application efficacy, provide scientific basis for application of DBNPA .The study is divided by four part:synthesis and reaction condition control of DBNPA. The optimal synthetic method was found in the expriment. DBNPA was prepd. efficiently by reacting CAA with Br2 in the excess HBr in the presence of H202. The action of H202 is that excessive HBr produced in the reaction was transformed into Br2 which could be recycled. Meanwhile, this paper studied the synthetic technology. The reacting temperature (8(T90C), The reacting time (2030min), The reacting proportion (CAA:Br2=l:l. Tl. 3) are the optimal reacting condition.Physical and chemical and toxicological properties of DBNPA. Tests have indicated that DBNPA is a white crystalline solid with a melting point of 125C,this compound is relatively soluble in water (25M.Sg/lOOg water),and its rate of solution is bigger in common organic solvents ,such asAcetone, N,N- dimethyl formamide, polyethylene glycol(mol wt,200), etc. DBNPA dissolvesin water to give a relatively stable solution in an acid PH range, Its aqueous solutions hydrolyze under alkaline conditions. Heat and ultraviolet and fluorescent light also cause aqueous solutions of DBNPA to degrade ,with the rate of decomposition increasing with these conditions,DBNPA doesn't pollute environment. Animal tests have indicated that DBNPA is moderately and low toxic , the 50% lethal dose (LD50) is 366mg/kg of body weight for rabbit. A single , short skin exposure to DBNPA is relatively nonhazardous to minnows inside the bactericidal concentration range .Bactericidal and algistatic activity of DBNPA. Bactericidal tests have been carried out according to the test technology of microbiology commonly, tests results showed that DBNPA give satisfactory antimicrobial activity for bacteria and fungi .For example , percent reduction in bacterial count is above 90% within Ihr following the addition of DBNPA for Escherichia coli, Enterobacter aerogenes, staphylococcus aureus, Salmonella typhosa, pseudomonas, Candida albicans ,Aspergillus terreus and Rhizopus nigricans. DBNPA inhibited these microorganisms tested between 10 and lOOug/ml. Therefore , and it's also capable for algae controlled.DBNPA is employed in the treatment of aqueous system. Determining the antimicrobial rate in the expriment that DBNPA is employed in the pools ,city foul water , cooling water systems , pulp mill systems , etc. The results showed that the rate of killing microorganism is over 99% as DBNPA used ?in these systems, and this effect persisted for at least 40hr. so DBNPA is a excellent water treatmant agantThe tests showed that DBNPA is effective and wide-ranging as biocide-algaecide. It is a fine environmental protection agant since DBNPA easy degrade in environment. DBNPA can be extensively employed in the water teatment for the live water , an industrial water systems, city effluent water, cooling water systems, pools and swimming-pools as microbicide and water treatment agent. As a result, DBNPA would possess a great development value and broad application prospects.
