Material is a basic of substance and a forerunner in the development of social economy, and a specific representation of the technical level of a country. Further, development in high technology correlates with the development of new materials. Luminescent materials are to be a type of function materials. Because of its rapid development in high technology and folk fields, Luminescent materials will have become an important new high technology industry. With the progress of science and technology, the range of applying luminescent materials is becoming broader and broader, and there is a good prospect for applying it. The rare earths have special electron arrangement , special spectrum characteristic , unique physical and chemical specialties and properties in terms of light, electricity and magnet properties which other elements have not , and many unknown new properties and uses as well. There are great possibilities in studying and exploring new type light, electricity and magnet function materials. So study of rare earths luminescent materials have become one of hot pots in recent years.Activated agent of cerium that is abundant and cheap together with a little terbiumas additive is used in the study, to research and explore luminescent mechanism of aluminates strontium. The project has a important significance forexploring use of Ce and Tb and theory of luminescence, and for study in new-style optical function material.In the process of study, by a lot of experiments for analyzing luminescent properties' affecting factors, such as concentration Ce and Tb H3BO:i, synthesizing temperature and temperature reserving time, reducing condition, etc, it gives out a good foundation for synthesizing ideal rare earths luminescent materials activated by Ce and Tb in aluminates strontium host.The study indicated that photoluminesent aluminates strontium power activated by Ce, Tb, in SrAl.,0,, has a better luminescent effect. Under the appropriate condition, SrAlL.0( that produce olivine light can be composed in 235nm or 365nm ul traviolet radiat ion act i vated by Tbi07, Al,>0.i and SrCO:!. Adding in CeO. in the SrA1..0,: (Tb) , effect of spectrum becomes better, which can be greatly Effect of spectrum is affected by reserving temperature time. With the change of experiment conditions, it can send out red, yellow, green, and Kelly.The luminescence theorem of aluminates strontium is studied, too. Ce transfers energy to Tb in Ce and Tb co-activated phosphors. Light emission of phosphors is led by 4f-4f-electron leap of Tb; its long lasting persistence is related to electron traps in SrAljO, host lattice.Photo luminescent materials actived by Ce, Tb in SrAlL.0,has a good prospect. But because of lacking expenses and limited times, the study has many defects. A lot of further experiments on optimizing synthetic conditions and applications need to carrying out in future.
