Two methods have been developed for the determination of Arsenic in high purity sulfur by graph ite furnace atomic absorption spectrometry with a transversely heated graphite atomizer and longitudinal Zeeman-effeet background correction.A adsorption coprecipitation method of Arsenic using Fe(OH)3 as coprecipitator was studied. The thermal behavior of Arsenic during the ashing and atomization steps was investigated in the solutions containing 0.2% HN03 (V/V) and 0. 4g/L Fe using Ni, Pd, Mg, La, Ni+ Pd, Ni+Mg, Ni+La, Pd+Mg, Pd+ La as matr i x mod if iers. This article developed a method for determination of Arsenic in su I fur by GFAAS after Fe (OH) 3 coprec i pi tate. The I imi t of detect ion (L.0.D) based on integrated absorbance is 2. 7 ng/g , the typical relative standard deviation (n=6) is 7.9% and the recovery of Arsenic added to sample is 94.7%.A adsorption method of Arsenic using suIfhydrylated cotton fiber was studied. The thermal behavior of Arsenic during the ashing and atomization steps was investigated in the solutions contain ing 0. 4mol/L HN03 us ing Ni, Ni+Mg, Ni+Pd as matr i x mod i f iers. This article developed a method for determination of Arsenic insulfur by GFAAS after sulfhydryIated cotton fiber adsorpt. The limit of detect ion (L.O.D) based on integrated absorbance is 3.8 ng/g , the typical relative standard deviation (n=6) is 8.1% and the recovery of Arsenic added to sample is 92.7%.Both of the results of determination of Arsenic in high purity sulfur by these two methods are in good agreement with the result from the Guangxi Analytical Testing and Research Center.
