The Three Gorges Project is a world - famous water conservancy center project .The main parts of it are the body of concrete dam , permanent ship casket , electricity - produce department , etc . These are all large volume concrete which influence the ageing resistance of the project directly , and they also have much to do with (he concrete of moderate heal portland cement armature and concrete aggregate, etc . There is an old saying in our field -"No dam is not crackable" . The crack is mainly because of the bad dilation after " alkali-aggregate reaction" , the temperature traverse inside and outside the concrete with the happening of heat evolution and the shrink of volume due to the cooling of concrete. The research of this text is about stopping "alkali-aggregate reaction" , reducing concretes exothermic peak , controling the internal concrete adiabatic storage and using the microexpansivity of magnesia to make up the shrinkage production in the later harden .During the research , we used the diffraction of x-ray .SEM(scanning electron microscope),electron micro-probe , petrographic analysis , cements physical performance test , adiabatic test , concrete test and so on , also , we gave explanations to all kinds of expansion phenomenon . Finally , we produced moderate heat portland cement which could be well used in Three Gorges Project.
