The sludge granulation in full-scale UASB reactor was studied by starch and vitamin 812 wastewater as substrates. The results obtained show: (1) The seed sludge was made up of digestion sludge from a municipal wastewater treatment plant and natural substrates consist of rich methane bacteria, organic and inorganic elements. The seed sludge concentration was 55gSS/L in the UASB reactor. It is beneficial to quick start and sludge granulation. (2) When influent COD was 4000-5000mg/L, volumetric COD loading rate of start was 1 .OkgCOD/m3-d. Higher hydraulic loading and batch influent were used, the UASB reactor was started quickly by 24 day. (3) When volumetric COD loading rate was 5.1 kgCOD/m3-d, COD sludge loading rate was 0.45kgCOD/kgVSS-d, hydraulic loading rate was 0.25m3/m2
