Derivatives of tetrathiafulvalene(TTF) and dithiolene have been interested for a long time for their unusual electronic ,magnetic and optical properties. In this paper, a series of transition-metal complexes such as (HgI2)2(PhDT), (HgCl2)(PhDT) and (CuX)4(PhDT)6 (X=Br,I) were synthesized by coordinating C=S group of sulfur-rich ligand to transition metals. They were characterized by elemental analysis, IR spectra , UV-vis spectra, and the organic-inorganic packing structure of (HgI2)2(PhDT) was determined by single crystal X-ray diffraction . In addition, Pd(TMTE)Cl2 was also synthesized by coordinating sulfur-rich chelate ligand to Pd( II) via dithioether group. Its structure was characterized by single crystal X-ray diffraction and showed a dimmer packing. Moreover we synthesized [Bu4N]2[M(dmit)2] (M=Cd,Zn), [Bu4N]2[Cd(mnt)2] , [Me4N]2 [Cu4(mnt)2(SPh)2] and [Me4N]4[M3(ETTF)4(SPh)2](M=Cd,Zn) by cluster-cracking reaction . They were characterized by elemental analysis, IR spectra , and UV-vis spectra. The possiblemechanisms of the cluster-cracking reaction were also discussed.
