Process And Performance Of Plasma Sprayed Graded ZrO₂ Coating

ZrO2 graded coating has been developed on Al substrate by plasma spraying process. Using DPV-2000 system, scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and transmission electron microscopy (TEM) and so on, the difference of sinter powder and original powder has been analyzed. The corresponding relations with sinter powders, flight velocity and temperature of particles in plasma jet and the graded coating microstructure were discussed by means of comparing different ZrO2 graded coatings' performance parameters: optical micrograph and bonding strength.Many experiments and analyzed results show that sinter powders were fitter to plasma spraying; by controlling process parameters of plasma spraying, velocity, temperature and granularity of flight particles rang from powder pipe and another further pipe. And, the performance difference of sinter powders were also discussed with the same spraying distances and the same process parameters.
