Analyzing metallography is some a science that studying the micro-structure of metallic material and finding the relation between micro-structure and its macro-performance.With the development of technology, the regular relation between character , size, distributing of metallic micro-structure and its mechanical, physical performance is being found out. On the procedure of finding regular relation, some characteristic parameters are needed measured. Getting these parameters depending on handwork only is not practical. The reason is that: firstly the result is not accurate while calculating by hand, secondly the procedure is bothersome and tired. So it is needed to import the technology of image processing with computer while measuring the parameters in quantitative metallography. The aim of this paper is to quantitative analyzing and measuring the complex structure of metallography using mature technology of computer science. The main content is following.1. Describing the character of complex structure of metallography with method with fractal. The structures affect the performance of material deeply. For example, in the condition of same rate of volume, the distributing and shape is determinative to the performance of material.2. Calculating length-width ratio in a creative way and splitting two phases is the metallography with the ratio result calculated. My method is that: firstly, thinning the particles in the image and find its skeleton; and then calculating the longest curve in the skeleton. The length of the longest curve is the length of the particle's long axes. Its short length is gotten with ratio of area and the long axes. This way can get more actual length-width ratio than traditional methods. But there is a little bug with this method. That is, the particle may be shrunk to a point in the condition that it is a solid circle or a solid square. Fortunately, the bug does not affect the result of splitting.3. Realizing some other regular methods of quantitative metallography.
