Creatine is present in vertebrate muscle tissues and, as creatine phosphate, is an energy reserve of muscles. For this reason, synthetical creatine is used as nutritional supplement; besides, creatine can be used as preparing pharmaceutic preparation. Currently, massively production of creatine or creatine-monohydrate use virulent Cyanamid as material, so the product have the danger of exist microdose cyanide. This dissertation was chiefly engaged in studying on the new process for producing creatine-monohydrate. In this study, the preparation of high purity creatine-monohydrate takes place by the reaction of sodium N-methylyglycinate with S-methylisothiourea sulfate. The price of sodium N-methylyglycinate and S-methylisothiourea sulfate is lower, and the toxicity of these raw material is lower. This dissertation studied on the synthesis of sodium N-methylyglycinate,intermediate of creatine, and creatine-monohydrate. The reation mechanism was proposed. After optimization to the factors of the reaction, this dissertation got appropriate yield and qualified product.Under the optimum conditions of synthesis that the molar ratio of S~methyl isothiourea sulfate to Sodium sarcosine isl:0.9-1:1, reaction temperature is 33癈, and reation time is 5hour, creatine or creatine monohydrate can be prepared in yields of from 60 to 70% by weight.
