The ionomer based on Polystyrene-block-poly(ethylene-ran-butylene)-block-polystyrene-graft-maleic anhydride and Poly(ethylene-co-vinyl acetate-co-methacrylate acid) are synthesized in this thesis. They include the alkali metal(Sodium) and transition metal(Zinc) ionized polymer. The analysis of their FTIR spectra suggests that there are two formation mechanisms and corresponding models for the ionomers: a cluster-multiplent model and a coordinated complex model, and that the metal cations play an important role in the structure of an ionomer. This thesis studies the mechanical property of the two ionomers by tension test and others. The result shows that the mechanical property of the newly synthesized ionomers is promoted a lot. Then the two ionomers are blended with POM by the reaction-extrusion blending which is often used to the non-compatible system in the field of blending and modification. Through the test of mechanical property and the analysis of the crystal morphology , submicro phase, the compatibility of ionomers with POM and the tenacity of ionomers to POM are studied. The results suggest that both SEBS-g-MAH series of ionomers and Poly(ethylene-co-vinyl acetate-co-methacrylate acid) ionomers are non-compatible with POM base. Without the compatibilizer, the addition of ionomers haven't the function of tenacitilizer and the mechanical property is down comparing with the pure POM resin. If the two ionomers are used as tenacitilizer, some good compatibilizer must be found.
