| In this paper, the developments of molding compound and its technical requirements for O-cresol Formaldehyde Epoxy Resin, the structure and properties of O-cresol Formaldehyde Epoxy Resin, home and abroad, was briefly introduced. The research dynamics and development trends of O-cresol Formaldehyde Epoxy Resin and its manufacture status and the existing gap between home and abroad was reviewed.The reaction principle, technical procedure, experimental device and preparation methods to synthesize O-cresol Formaldehyde Epoxy Resin were studied in detail in this paper. The reaction mechanism of O-cresol Formaldehyde resin and O-cresol Formaldehyde Epoxy Resin was investigated. The factors that having effects on the synthesis of O-cresol Formaldehyde resin and O-cresol Formaldehyde Epoxy Resin was discussed. And the cost to synthesize O-cresol Formaldehyde Epoxy Resin was also analyzed. By analyzing the research results, several conclusions could be summarized as follows:Firstly, the production of O-cresol Formaldehyde Epoxy Resin that conforming to the requirements of molding compound was synthesized. The specific technical conditions were as follows: the reaction temperature of O-cresol Formaldehyde Resin was 100±10℃,the reaction time was 8 hours,the reaction temperature of O-cresol Formaldehyde Epoxy Resin was 70±10℃,the reaction vacuum was -0.07±001MPa,the time was 5 hours,and the mole ratio of the base to phenolic hydroxyl equivalent was 1±0.1.Secondly, in order to satisfy the user's demands, O-cresol Formaldehyde Epoxy Resin was successfully synthesized by using component solvent of toluene and n-butanol to substitute for MIBK. Thirdly, the quality of the sample of small-scale production, examined by Institute of chemistry, Chinese Academy of Sciences, was up to the importing productions and could completely replace the importing goods.Fourthly, a series of imitation experiments of pilot plant were carried out, and the start-up program of pilot plant was drawn up.
