Oscillatory Flow Mixer (OFM) is a new type of devices in Chemical Engineering Process, which has a good performance in heat and mass transport. And the process in an OFM is very convenient to control. It has wide potential usages in many Chemical Engineering Processes, such as particle suspension and separation, flocculation process and chemical reactor. Quite a few researchers have showed great interest in it and many significant results have been achieved. In this paper Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) numerical simulation technique was used to simulate the flow field with both laminar model and turbulence model within a certain region of Reynolds number. The simulation was carried out on only one cell of OFM without the net flow. From the simulations, the following conclusions were achieved:1. The numerical simulation of 3-D turbulence flow in an OFM was firstly implemented.2. The phenomenon of asymmetric velocity field in an OFM was described successfully with simulation results.3. Some figures of turbulence velocity field in an OFM were revealed:a) The asymmetric figure of velocity field was gradually more obvious with the oscillatory Reynolds number increasing, which showed good performance of mixing.b) When oscillatory Reynolds number is above certain value, the velocity fields for different oscillatory Reynolds number were similar at the same phase position of the same cycle.c) The velocity field distributions were similar at the same phase position of different cycles with the same Reynolds number. The work presented here will provide a helpful base to the further research.
